The beginning of my Guard army - Cadian Armoured Fist

My first proper blog post is going to be about my latest foray into Warhammer 40000. I've been painting individual models mostly since I started painting again and I'm equally excited and apprehensive to paint a full army with a cohesive colour scheme and theme.

 

I chose Imperial Guard because they seem to me to have more individual character than armoured troops such as Eldar or Space Marines and are easier to relate with than xenos races like the Orks. I'm aiming to do small conversions such as head swaps throughout the army just to avoid them being a mass of identical drones.

I've started with the Cadian armoured fist as shown above and below. After messing around with khakis and greens I ended up settling on a grey colour scheme. The red pauldrons on the armour are to make the models stand out a little better on the board.


I swapped out some heads for Catachan and Chaos Marauder heads. The Sergeant has Space Marine Scout legs to give him a more epic pose. I've got all these bits lying around from my eBay habit, I tend to buy bits job lots without giving much thought to when I'm going to use the damn things. Hopefully this army will whittle down my bits pile a bit! Yes I did forget to paint the inside of the Chimera, I'll get round to it at some point...

Plenty more to come, I've got three sentinels with fully magnetised weapons in the works that I'm hoping to make some real progress on this weekend. I'll check in with more progress as it occurs. Thanks for reading, hope you like!

Hello one and all. Long time no post again, but I intend to update much now often now given the changes that have occurred in my gaming life, namely that I'm actually gaming! I've recently gone from being a hobby painter to playing games, and it's amazing what a difference it's made to my overall painting work ethic. I finally went to a local gaming club and dipped a toe in with Warcry, which I found really fun. So I picked up the Corvus Cabal warband, although it was close between them and the Splintered Fang. I painted the Corvus Cabal in a week! The fastest I've ever painted a group of nine miniatures to a decent standard. I gave them the name the Birds of Paradise, giving them a brighter colour scheme than the GW standard. WIP barbarian king, got the flu.

Hi all, unfortunately not finished anything this week and I've been full of flu the last few days. I'm going to start updating on Sundays even if I've done bugger all just to get into the habit really. I did make a start on this barbarian hero/king earlier in the week. He's an awesome figure and I'm looking forward to doing more on him. I've got no idea who the manufacturer is, I can't find anything like it on the internet and the scale is quite large, more 32mm than 28mm I'd say. Hopefully I'll pull my finger out and finish him next week! Cheers!

Long time no post!

Since I last posted I've got married, been on my honeymoon and Christmas has come and gone. I definitely need to get my arse in gear and update more often. This is going to be an image heavy post, I'm just going to dump all the best bits that I've done since October. I've been quite productive and recently seen my skills and speed increase quite a lot I think, mostly thanks to trying out new techniques. So, going chronologically I'll start with some Fallout bits. Tribals first, then Brotherhood of Steel: Next I did Gor Half-Horn for Necromunda. I'm really pleased with how he turned out, i tried to pull out all the stops on him: Then most recently I fancied a foray into fantasy. First up I did a Stormcast Eternal with a Space Wolf head swap.
